Beautiful Weekend Ahead

20120420-114757.jpgStopping by to say hi!  Looks like we have a beautiful weekend ahead…chance of rain today, but otherwise it should be a perfect weekend.  It’s been a very productive week with visits and calls from people I haven’t seen in quite some time.  Always great to share memories with those closest to you.

If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, you might try heading out west to the Fredericksburg and Llano areas.  Fredericksburg will be hosting the Fredericksburg Trade Days and Llano will be hosting the Llano Crawfish Open. For you Volkswagen fans out there, Fredericksburg will also be hosting the Biggest Volkswagen Show in Texas this weekend as well – The Texas VW Classic.

May be uploading a few photos from those areas this weekend, so you’ve been warned ;)    Have a great weekend and thank you for visiting texcenproperties.com.

Veramendi Development – New Braunfels

NEW BRAUNFELS — The proposed Veramendi project, which is being called the largest development since New Braunfels was founded, began with a chance meeting at Rudy’s Texas BBQ at Loop 337 and Common Street.

Peter James, chief executive officer of developer ASA Properties, said execs with the Australian firm were out scouting the Texas Hill Country seeking potential development opportunities for one of their signature master-planned, green, sustainable communities, and had stopped for lunch at Rudy’s.

Craig Hall, a real-estate agent and owner of Wasserlodge on the Comal River, happened to be at Rudy’s and overheard the conversation.

Hall told the Aussies that he knew of the perfect place for their development — and it was right up the road.

The rest, as they say, is …. read more

Austin Developer Breaking Ground on Mixed-Use Development

Austin developer Robert McDonald plans to break ground within a month or so on more than 72,000 square feet of Class A retail and office space spread between two developments in San Marcos’ Wonder World Drive medical district.

One of those, the Sadler East expansion of the Vista Office Plaza, will add 54,000 square feet of mostly medical office space across from Central Texas Medical Center. McDonald said Vista Plaza’s existing two buildings have vacancies of smaller suites but nothing available 6,000 square feet and larger.

“There’s certainly space on the ground available [but] what’s kind of missing is something to accommodate a little larger tenant,” McDonald said. “Because we’re interested in staying in front of the market and creating a product that allows business to come in and begin operations immediately, we want to…read more

Bobcat “snared” in San Marcos

There are a lot of things I really love about this town.  Bobcats are one!  Used to have a bunch of these running around here, but not so much lately.  Whoever snared this one was more man than me.  One of the things I learned very early on in life was never to mess with wild cats, pole or no pole :)

Postponed River Rule Changes

San Marcos, TX– Folks in San Marcos have a little more time to have a drink on the river bank.  Council members were scheduled to vote Tuesday night on sweeping changes to the city’s parks rules. Instead they voted to wait and see.

That vote now will take place during the May 1 meeting, and city leaders plan to solicit more public input before making that final decision.

Tuesday night, one council member was absent due to a death in the family and others decided more research from cities such as New Braunfels was necessary.

New FHA Rules

Getting a mortgage loan just got a little bit harder for a lot of people.

Federal Housing Administration rules for mortgage lending changed Monday, disqualifying people with more than $1,000 in medical or other collections from getting an FHA-backed mortgage loan.

Homeowners with FHA loans also will have to pay more in mortgage insurance starting next Monday.

The changes are a blow for first-time homebuyers and the companies that cater to them.
